How to Cast a Circle
HOW TO CAST A CIRCLE
By Ahonui
CIRCLE CASTING
Stand facing north with your feet firmly planted on the
ground in your home, outside, or where ever you feel comfortable doing a ritual.
Clear your mind of all thoughts and envision a white
light of energy, forming in the solar plexus area of your body, this is the area
between your chest and lower abdomen. You don't need to work too hard on this,
as it doesn't need to be "the strongest energy you can muster," or you'll feel
drained before you've even begun your ritual.
Using your athame, wand, letter opener, pen, or index
finger, see that white light moving from your solar plexus out through the tip
of your tool. You can either point your tool directly above you, or at a slight
angle to the ground. The white light will touch down on the ground, as it does
so, slowly move deosil, clockwise, watching the light form a nice circle around
you.
At this time, you should also envision your white light
forming a dome around you that covers your entire working area. Your working
area can include, just your body, your altar, and/or your partner.
Once you've returned to facing north, you are now ready
to begin your ritual.
CLOSING YOUR CIRCLE
Once you've completed your ritual, you will need to
close your circle. Why do you need to close your circle? Because you opened it.
You wouldn't leave your house without first closing and locking the door behind
you.
Facing north again, point the tip of the same tool you
used to create your circle, down toward the ground or floor. Envision your white
light of protection moving from the atmosphere around you, back into your tool,
then into your body.
Turn, widdershins, counter-clockwise, while "picking up"
all that energy.
Once you are facing north again, you will want to ground
that extra energy so you don't feel "weird." See that white light, leaving your
body through the bottom of your feet; give all that energy back to Mother Earth.
At this time, I usually utter a small thanks to whatever
energies might still be about.
